[STDS-802-3-25G] 802.3by Reminders: D2.1 recirculation ballot & 10/15 Interim

Dear 802.3by Task Force members,

A couple of reminders…

A quick reminder that the recirculation ballot is currently open and closes On Saturday Oct 10th.  While we have already met our response criteria for the ballot, I do want to remind everyone about the 802.3 requirements for voting on two of the last three ballots to maintain voter status.  David Law recently shared the tracking of the 802.3 voters on the recent ballots and in case people didn’t see it in Bonita Springs, here is the link http://www.ieee802.org/3/ballots/ballot_returns.pdf.

Comments received will be reviewd and addressed at the interim on Oct 15th in the Bay Area

Since the focus will be on comment resolution against the D2.1 recirculation, any presentations are expected to be in relation to supporting comment resolution.  Requests for presentation time shall be made to me at mnowell@xxxxxxxxx  and must be made by Friday, Oct 9th, 2015.  The presenter shall e-mail a PDF, soft-copy  by Tuesday of the following week (Tues Oct 13th, 2015).

I¹d like to say a huge thank you to our editorial team of Matt Brown
(Chief editor), Arthur Marris, Adee Ran, Chris Diminico and Jonathan King.
Also thanks to the reviewers (Jeff Slavick, Adam Healey, Kent Lusted,
Pete Anslow and Mike Dudek) supporting the team to check all the
modifications were put in properly.  This group of people have been
tirelessly working over the past few weeks to prepare the comments
responses, finalize them and update the draft.  Without this dedicated
effort, we would have been unable to make the excellent progress we have!

And finally thanks  to all the careful reviewers & commenters who
submitted comments and also reviewed the responses.  Many of the responses
to the required comments were accepted and the disapprove votes were
confirmed to be flipped to approve. We currently have only 8 comments
remaining unresolved which is a tremendous feat for an initial ballot!

BALLOT SCOPE:
During this IEEE 802.3 Working Group 1st recirculation ballot, the scope
of the ballot is the substantive changes between IEEE P802.3by/D2.1 and
IEEE P802.3by/D2.0 and the unsatisfied negative comments from the initial
ballot.

FIVE CRITERIA:
One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is
consistent with the 5 Criteria responses which are available at
<http://ieee802.org/3/by/P802_3by_CSD.pdf>. An Approve vote indicates
your agreement that the draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses.

Standard for Ethernet Amendment: Media Access Control Parameters,

SCOPE OF PROJECT:
This amendment defines Ethernet Media Access Control (MAC) parameters,
physical layer specifications, and management parameters for the transfer
of Ethernet format frames at 25 Gb/s for server to switch interconnections

NEED FOR THE PROJECT:
There is a need for greater than 10 Gb/s Ethernet connectivity for server
to switch connections. The availability of 25 Gb/s signaling technologies
enables interconnect solutions for server to switch applications to be
developed which are lower cost than existing 40 Gb/s Ethernet solutions
