Dear Colleagues,
This is the announcement of the electronic IEEE 802.3 Working Group 1st
recirculation ballot on the amendment IEEE P802.3by 25 Gb/s Ethernet.
Remember that voting, as well as attendance, is a requirement to maintain
your IEEE 802.3 member (voter) status
the draft, casting your ballot and submitting comments follow this
announcement. Note that the options for submitting comments HAVE BEEN
UPDATED, please review the commenting instructions below to ensure you
are using the most up to date tools.
The ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of
Friday 17th July 2015.
Because this is a recirculation ballot, YOU ONLY NEED TO CAST A BALLOT IF
YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR VOTE FROM THAT WHICH WAS RECORDED ON THE INITIAL
BALLOT. If you voted previously and your vote has not changed, the last
ballot cast will be carried over to this ballot and you do not need to
cast a new ballot.
BALLOT SCOPE:
During this IEEE 802.3 Working Group 1st recirculation ballot, the scope
of the ballot is the substantive changes between IEEE P802.3by/D2.1 and
IEEE P802.3by/D2.0 and the unsatisfied negative comments from the initial
ballot.
FIVE CRITERIA:
One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is
consistent with the 5 Criteria responses which are available at
your agreement that the draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses.
BALLOT OPEN:
Saturday 26th September 2015
BALLOT CLOSE:
Saturday 10th October 2015 23:59 AOE
The Project Authorization Request for this Amendment is available at
the following:
TITLE:
Standard for Ethernet Amendment: Media Access Control Parameters,
Physical Layers and Management Parameters for 25 Gb/s Operation
SCOPE OF PROJECT:
This amendment defines Ethernet Media Access Control (MAC) parameters,
physical layer specifications, and management parameters for the transfer
of Ethernet format frames at 25 Gb/s for server to switch interconnections
NEED FOR THE PROJECT:
There is a need for greater than 10 Gb/s Ethernet connectivity for server
to switch connections. The availability of 25 Gb/s signaling technologies
enables interconnect solutions for server to switch applications to be
developed which are lower cost than existing 40 Gb/s Ethernet solutions
Thank you for your participation in this ballot and careful review of the
draft.
