Dear Colleagues, This is my late contribution, because I came up with this idea only after P802.3by 25GbE Ad Hoc meeting on January 13 which was already past the deadline of the presentation request. If there are too many objections to my first proposal to merge Two PHYs to Single PMD, this is an alternative solution which keeps Two PHYs but merges Two PMDs to Single PMD. There are no difference in functionality with this change. However, it significantly improves the abstraction, and makes the standard easier to understand. I hope that the task force is generous enough to consider this late contribution as one option. Best regards, Yasuo Hidaka Fujitsu Laboratories of America, Inc. From: Mark Nowell (mnowell) [mailto:mnowell@xxxxxxxxx] Dear Colleagues, I have received a late contribution request for the 802.3by Task Force meeting and have posted it on the webpage: Mr Hidaka has indicated that if his i-31 comment proposal fails to be adopted, he would be interested to share an alternative proposal to the TF. As this is a late contribution, I would usually handle this later in the meeting after the TF has had a chance to review and complete its planned work and contributions. However, since this alternative proposal has similar wide reaching implications to the draft as the original proposal, if we are to consider it, we will have to address it early in the meeting. I’m therefore alerting people to the availability of the contribution so they can have a chance to review and I will be asking the TF during the meeting if there is support to listening to this additional presentation even though it was received after the deadline. Thanks...Mark |
