Jeff,
I tend to agree with you and I never liked the double hyphens. Personally I would prefer 400GAUI-8, etc.

It is a bit late to make a change in terms of messaging to the industry as a whole. Be prepared for people to ask what the difference is between CDAUI-8 and 400G-AUI-8 if we do adopt the change? We are in danger of too many hyphens.
Eye test:
400G-AUI-8
400GAUI-8
400G-AUI8
400GAUI8

Subject: [STDS-802-3-400G] 400G nomenclature survey
Dear Colleagues,
As many of you may already know, the P802.3by Task Force adopted "25G" Arabic numerals in place of Roman numerals for the AUI and MII interface designations. During the January interim meeting of P802.3bs 400G, several people asked me offline about extending
the Arabic numerals into the P802.3bs Task Force
In an attempt to minimize the impact to our valuable March Plenary meeting time, I prepared an online poll. The purpose of the poll is to determine if there is consensus to change the adopted nomenclature in P802.3bs from Roman numerals to Arabic numerals
for the XS, MII and AUI-n interfaces.
The results from the survey will be presented in the TF meeting during a short nomenclature presentation. Hopefully, the online poll will save the valuable Task Force discussion time to address more pressing topics related to the big ticket items.
The survey link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8HZCMQB
The close time for the survey is 10 pm Eastern time, Sunday, 1 March to ensure the data is available in a timely manner for the Task Force meeting.
Thank you for your participation and I look forward to seeing you in Berlin!
With regards,
-Kent
