Hi Pete, Please see my response below. Thanks for your inputs. Yair From: Peter Johnson [mailto:peter_johnson@xxxxxxxxx]
EXTERNAL EMAIL Yair: Item 4 Max column shows “1,2,3,4”. This is PSE Type? Yair: Yes it is PSE. --------- In truth, according to Figure 33-14, there
is a maximum possible Icon that is Ilim_min. Yair: Icon is Icut_min and not Ilim_min. In addition Figure 33-14 is going to be changed for much clearer description of the relationship between the different parameters. -------------- The minimum Icon is the PSE lowerbound template for continuous current, i.e. after
Tcut. In the text, the phrase “normal POWER ON state” seems vaguely defined. Yair: POWER_ON state is defined state. It is normal powering without faults i.e. ovld and short circuit. --------- Is this specifically a condition where the PD is operating within its allowed steady-state power budget meaning the PSE is operating at or below the lowerbound template for continuous current ? Yair: Correct. -------------- Specifying Icont-2P-unb MAXIMUMS of 668 mA for Type-3 and 931 mA for Type-4 seems confusing. A Type-2 PSE today can furnish up to 684 mA
continuously (with or without pair-pair unbalance) and meet the template in Figure 33-14. That is higher than 668 mA, of course. Again, this may tie back to a PSE operating at or below the lowerbound template – that would represent the constraint
in order for 668 mA to be a Type-3 maximum pair set current. Yair: Type 2 684mA could possibly be the constrain to the 668mA Type 3. However Drawing 33-14 is parametric and per PSE type as the whole table 33-11. Moreover, all numbers for Type 3 and 4 are not final so I suggest to keep this comment after finalizing all numbers and Figure 33-14. --- Food for thought….
