[802.3_B400G] Preparation for Sept Interim - Annex 178B Ad Hoc Report

All,

The Annex 178B Ad hoc Report can be found at:  https://www.ieee802.org/3/dj/public/25_09/dambrosia_3dj_03_2509.pdf

The Ad Hoc has been considered the Annex, and as announced there was discussion at this past meeting to consider the scope of IEEE P802.3dj in relation to use with AUIs.  (I direct everyone to the 10 Sept webpage for more in-depth discussion).

After this discussion the ad hoc considered the following straw poll:

•       Straw Poll #4 - I support leaving the existing IEEE P802.3dj PAR as is

§       Path Startup Process is only specified for 200 Gb/s per lane AUIs

§       Results  Y:32   N: 0    A: 4

Please note that this straw poll took place after an approximate 90 min discussion in the ad hoc, where a lot of discussion was heard.

Given that this has potential implications to comment resolution next week, the Task Force needs to consider the output of the Ad hoc on Monday morning and provide guidance that can be used for comment resolution.  Given the straw poll results, I am hopefully anticipating Task Force support for the straw pol.

If any individuals have  any questions, please contact me prior to the start of the meeting.  We will have another challenging meeting in front of us, and it would be good if I could resolve any issues in the interest of preserving meeting time.

Regards,

;
