[802.3_DMLT] [IEEE 802.3br] IEEE P802.3br/D2.4 Interspersing Express Traffic Working Group 2nd RECIRCULATION ballot
Dear Task Force Participants,
Ignore the last email send a couple of minutes before as I used the wrong attached email.
With this e-mail, I'd like to announce the start of the IEEE P802.3br/D2.4 Interspersing Express Traffic Working Group 2nd RECIRCULATION ballot.
Open date: Thursday 19th November 2015
Close date: Thursday 3rd December 2015 23:59 AOE
As stated in the attached announcement, the ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Friday 17th July 2015. All comments received before the close of ballot will be considered, the one limitation however is that if you are not a member of the balloting group, and therefore cannot cast a ballot, you cannot designate comments as TR or ER since you cannot cast a Disapprove ballot.
Best regards,
Ludwig Winkel

Subject: [STDS-802-3] +++ 802.3 WG 2nd RECIRCULATION BALLOT: IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic D2.4 ballot
Dear Colleagues,
This is the announcement of the electronic IEEE 802.3 Working Group 2nd recirculation ballot on the Amendment IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic. Remember that voting, as well as attendance, is a requirement to maintain your IEEE 802.3 member (voter) status <http://ieee802.org/3/rules/member.html#DOT3>. Instructions for accessing the draft, casting your ballot and submitting comments follow this announcement. Note that the options for submitting comments HAVE BEEN UPDATED, please review the commenting instructions below to ensure you are using the most up to date tools.
The ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Friday 17th July 2015.
Because this is a recirculation ballot, YOU ONLY NEED TO CAST A BALLOT IF YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR VOTE FROM THAT WHICH WAS RECORDED ON THE INITIAL BALLOT OR LAST RECIRCULATION. If you voted previously and your vote has not changed, the last ballot cast will be carried over to this ballot and you do not need to cast a new ballot.
BALLOT SCOPE:
During this IEEE 802.3 Working Group 2nd recirculation ballot, the scope of the ballot is the substantive changes between IEEE P802.3br/D2.4 and IEEE P802.3br/D2.3 and the unsatisfied negative comments from the 1st recirculation ballot.
FIVE CRITERIA:
One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses which are available at <http://ieee802.org/3/br/8023-DMLT-SG-1311-Winkel-5C-v2.3.pdf>. An Approve vote indicates your agreement that the draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses.
BALLOT OPEN:
Thursday 19th November 2015
BALLOT CLOSE:
Thursday 3rd December 2015 23:59 AOE
The Project Authorization Request for this Amendment is available at <http://ieee802.org/3/br/P802d3br_PAR.pdf> and includes the following:
TITLE:
Standard for Ethernet Amendment Specification and Management Parameters for Interspersing Express Traffic
SCOPE OF PROJECT:
The scope of this project is to specify additions to and appropriate modifications of IEEE Std 802.3 to add support for interspersing express traffic over a single physical link.
NEED FOR THE PROJECT:
* Adoption of Ethernet into new market areas such as automotive, industrial automation, transportation (aircraft, railway and heavy trucks) has generated a need to converge low latency and best effort traffic streams.
* Currently this functionality requires multiple networks with parallel links.
* IEEE Std 802.3 currently does not have support for interspersed express traffic.
* This project will allow the needs of IEEE P802.1Qbu to be met with a single physical link between bridges.
Thank you for your participation in this ballot and careful review of the draft.

1. Prepare your comments in one of the following three ways. You are STRONGLY REQUESTED to use either the comment tool or spreadsheet. A comment entry tutorial is available at <http://ieee802.org/3/ballots/p802d3_comment_entry_tutorial_v1p0.pdf>.
a. Access the comment tool at the URL (last updated 16th September 2015):
<http://www.ieee802.org/3/WG_tools/filemaker/Generic_Commenting_Tool_FM.zip>
To use the tool, extract all components into a folder and do not move any component from that folder as this will cause the executable to not work correctly. The tool is:
Comment_Tool_Generic_Solution.exe
b. Access the comment spreadsheet at the URL:
<http://www.ieee802.org/3/WG_tools/spreadsheet/802d3_TFR_WGB_comments.xls>
c. To submit comments in text (ASCII) form, please use the form below. This will make it possible for the editor to properly record and track all submissions. Make as many copies of the template as necessary and submit as an ASCII text file or as part of your e-mail.
PLEASE NOTE: The ASCII method involves a manual transcription, hence you are recommended to check your comments to ensure accurate transcription when the comment file is made available. Please use one of the comment tools above if possible.
