[802.3_ISAAC] ILD shown on slide 10 of conrad's presentatino

Due to time constraints, I did not follow up, but the data shown on slide 10 indicated 3 cables, each of which had 0.3m segments, and a close view shows the oscillation of the return loss curve at approximately a frequency of 300 MHz, which would be indicative of insertion-loss deviation (ILD), so, while I would welcome more data, I do not believe there was a mixture of cables as Conrad’s answer suggested.  Due to time, I did not repeat my question, which remained unanswered:

  • Was there consideration of the effect of ILD on the PHYs and perhaps dividing the RL into components for smooth response and the ILD, rather than ride the peaks of the ILD?
