[802.3_ISAAC] comment 17 (not EZ)



Comments 17 is about Figure 202-1, the functional block diagram – but got mis-classified as “state diagrams”.

They might be considered EZ, except that I wasn’t clear enough in my explanation – the editor asked for clarification what was meant by “an arrowhead into PHY CONTROL for this signal”.

 

detect_lp_burst originates at PMA RECEIVE, and goes into PCS RECEIVE and PHY CONTROL – but there are 2 errors here – first, it isn’t used by PCS RECEIVE, and second, there is currently no arrowhead going into PHY control, so it appears to be originating from there as well as from PMA RECEIVE.

The figure needs to be modified to correct this, by adding an arrowhead where detect_lp_burst goes into PHY control (line under “config”).

 

 

Note that Comment 242 is also on this figure, classified as state diagrams, but is about the Link Monitor connections. This one is a little more complicated, but ALSO needs to go into PHY CONTROL….
