[802.3_ISAAC] Thursday meeting procedure

Dear  Colleagues,

We will meet at 8 am WEST tomorrow morning.  We do not meet in the afternoon tomorrow.  Please check the 802.3 calendar for the correct meeting time in your location.

After a very quick overview of 802.3 polices, participants will be given a chance to share their thoughts on adding 1 Gb/s in the low speed direction to Clause 192.  This discussion will end no later than 9 am.

Here are the rules we will follow:
  1. Raise your hand in WebEx to join the queue.
  2. Each  participant gets no more than one opportunity to speak.
  3. Do not raise your hand, then lower it, then raise it to try to change your place in the queue.  If I see anyone doing this they will not be given a chance to speak.  If you are having technical issues, please put a message in the chat.
  4. Each  participant will have no more than 3 minutes to speak.  I will set a timer for each speaker.  When you hear the alarm, please stop speaking immediately.  Please consider what you want to say and try to be concise to give everyone who wants a chance to speak to do so.  FYI - We had more than 60 participants in WebEx today.
  5. Please do not interrupt anyone while they are speaking unless you hear them say something that violates the rules, e.g. no discussion of prices.
  6. Tony Schedl (main author of presentation heard today) and Chao Lu (submitter of comment #1) will be given the last two spots to speak unless they choose to raise their hand and speak earlier.
At 9 am, we will consider a Motion to approve the following response to Comment #1, based on an email sent by Scott Muma to the reflector on 9/15, assuming we have a Mover and Seconder:

Accept in principle.

Incorporate the changes proposed in:

Editors to work with TDD champion to implement updates, and has editorial license to harmonize with other changes being made to D2.1 to generate D2.2 and update PICS accordingly.

(added by me) These updates supersede any change in an approved comment that would contradict these updates.


Discussion on the Motion will end at 9:50 so that the Motion can be completed prior to the morning break.  Discussion on the motion will start with the Mover and the Seconder and then will proceed to the queue as defined in 1-5 above; however, participants will be asked to first state if they are speaking for or against the motion and time will be limited to 2 minutes each.

After the break, If this Motion didn't pass, we will consider other comment responses that meet one of the following criteria:
  • AIP with a different change to the draft
  • Reject with a reason other than no consensus to make a change
These additional comment responses, which may be suggested by a Motion or straw poll, will be limited to 20 minutes of discussion each, following the same rules as the first motion.

At 11:30 am, if we have not had a comment response proposal that achieves at least 75% approval, the final comment response will be: "Reject,  no consensus in the CRG to make a change."

At this point, the comment database will be closed and we will complete the rest of the TF work for this meeting.
