Dear all, dear Georg, Just to clarify, because I am not sure, if I can participate on Wednesday ad hoc call: I have provided a sample of an Touchstone file, representing the max_linear topology from
http://www.ieee802.org/3/cg/public/adhoc/buntz_10SPE_05b_0329.pdf, slide 4. This is just to “test” if this data is a) readable and b) helpful for further investigations from semiconductor vendor side. Here is the Touchstone file: http://www.ieee802.org/3/cg/public/adhoc/10SPE_linear_max.s16p The example is an S16p touchstone file. It represents the MAX passive linear topology shown in earlier presentations, the topology is simulated in a 50ohm system (each
wire is terminated with 50ohms in the simulation). The differential ports are always two adjacent ports of the simulation (e.g. "1" and "2" are together the differential port of the head node, 3 and 4 are the ports of the first leave node and so on...) Question
to the group: is such data helpful to simulate further? If so, I will try to provide multiple topology examples.

All – I have received several requests for presentations and even some early submissions of material for Wednesday’s ad hoc. It should be a very useful ad hoc for PHY guys. We have 4 presentations of significant substance, so it will be a relatively full agenda. If you have anything more that you would like to contribute, please request soon (before Monday morning pacific time). I have uploaded what I have received to the website, including touchstone models for a multidrop line, and noise measurement data from Steffen Graber for multiple environments. I suggest taking an early look at them
so you know what questions to ask. Of course, I always encourage using the reflector for questions on things like these, and sooner is better than later. Also, we should have a presentation on automotive multidrop from Kirsten Matheus. Additionally, we have a repeat of the presentation given on the NGAUTO ad hoc last week, discussing issues and potential needs for specification of the MDC/MDIO interface in automotive applications. I would like to take
the NGAUTO presentation first on the agenda to accomodate that those calling in from the other group just because they missed it this week.
