Hi folks,

I now have enough material for a decent agenda

It will look something like the following, I’m still chasing Dave to see if he is going to do a “chair’s point of view on what the SG needs to get done by when”.

Subject: [802.3_NGBASET] IEEE 802.3 Next Generation Enterprise Access BASE-T PHY Study Group Architecture Ad-hoc conference call this Thursday.

Hi Folks,

As previously announced, we have a call this Thursday November 20th @ 9AM PDT for 90 minutes. (Outlook invite attached).

The purpose of the ad-hoc will be to discuss the different areas of work (use cases, MAC rate, supported channels, PHY layering & modulation, etc.) that will fall under the work of the group and to prepare content and contributions towards the study group's goal of developing the required documentation of objectives, PAR and CSD.

Remember that we are a contribution-driven organization.  I urge you to bring forward materials that will lead to having the objectives, PAR and CSD ready for approval by the study group in January.

I have not yet received any requests for agenda time/presentations. If nothing shows up, I think that the Dave (chair) and I will outline what we think we need to make progress before the January interim.

Borrowing some text from Matt Brown (25Gb/s Ethernet Architecture Ad-hoc)

As indicated in the announcement, requests for presentation time are appreciated ASAP  so that we can plan the agenda for the ad hoc meeting.

Note that this is a study group ad hoc. The purpose is to provide appropriate materials supporting and building consensus toward the NGEABT CSD (5 criteria), objectives, and PAR.

Please consider the following guidelines for ad hoc presentations and discussions:

·         Contribute towards support of and/or design of the objectives, PAR, and CSD.

·         Lead towards achieving and demonstrating consensus in the objectives/PAR/CSD in January.

·         Point out one or more options and discuss pros, cons, and relevance to the objectives/PAR/CSD.

·         Presentations including multiple authors, contributors, and supporters are highly encouraged.

·         Avoid promoting or picking a particular solution. This is for task force.

Regards

Peter
