The
baseline link segment insertion loss I proposed is "based" on 15 meters of
26 AWG stranded cable (temperature corrected
using a factor of 0.4 % increase per °C from 20 °C to 125 °C)
and four in-line connectors. Other cable gauges and lengths that meet
the baseline link segment insertion loss can be used.
The
baseline is not a recommendation for 26 AWG. 26 AWG was used
for the baseline as a result of an IEEE survey of the automotive
industry; responses suggesting 26 AWG stranded cable for future automotive
applications.
