[802.3_RTPGE] May 2016 802.3 Interim - hotel and transportation updates

Colleagues,

 

If you have not yet finalized your travel plans to attend the May Interim hosted by the Ethernet Alliance  scheduled for May 23-27, 2016 at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, BC, Canada, please take a moment to do so now.  

  • Rooms are still available at the Fairmont for the group rate, but the hotel is filling quickly
  • Whistler Shuttle offers van or bus service from the Vancouver airport (YVR) to the Fairmont as close to your flight times as possible, but you must book in advance; the trip is about 2 1/2 hours with traffic
  • Air Canada is launching nonstop service from San Jose, CA (SJC) to YVR in May 2016, a few weeks before the meeting, giving Silicon Valley residents a new travel option

New eTA requirement for non-U.S. visa-exempt citizens

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has informed us of a new regulation affecting visitors to Canada: Starting March 15, 2016, visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to or transit through Canada will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Exceptions include U.S. citizens and foreign nationals with a valid visa.

 

To apply for an eTA you must have a valid passport, a credit card, and email address. The cost is $7 CAD and your eTA will be valid for up to five years. You do NOT need an invitation letter or any documentation from the meeting planner. Please apply here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/eta-start.asp
