Dear Task Force Participants, With this e-mail, I'd like to announce the start of the IEEE P802.3de/D2.1 Time Synchronization for Point-to-Point Single Pair Ethernet Working Group 1st recirculation ballot. Open date: Friday 28th January 2022 Close date: Saturday 12th February 2022 23:59 AOE As stated in the announcement below, the ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Monday 22nd November 2021. All comments received before the close of ballot will be considered, the one limitation however
is that if you are not a member of the balloting group, and therefore cannot cast a ballot, you cannot designate comments as TR or ER since you cannot cast a Disapprove ballot. Best regards, George Zimmerman Chair, IEEE P802.3de Time Synchronization for Point-to-Point Single Pair Ethernet Task Force ----- Dear Colleagues, This is the announcement of the electronic IEEE 802.3 Working Group 1st recirculation ballot on the Amendment IEEE P802.3de Time Synchronization for Point-to-Point Single Pair Ethernet. Remember that voting, as well as attendance, is
a requirement to maintain your IEEE 802.3 member (voter) status <http://ieee802.org/3/rules/member.html#DOT3>. Instructions for accessing the draft, casting your ballot and submitting comments follow
this announcement. Please review the commenting instructions below to ensure you are using the most up to date tools. The ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Monday 22nd November 2021. Because this is a recirculation ballot, YOU ONLY NEED TO CAST A BALLOT IF YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR VOTE FROM THAT WHICH WAS RECORDED ON THE INITIAL BALLOT OR LAST RECIRCULATION. If you voted previously and your vote has not changed, the
last ballot cast will be carried over to this ballot and you do not need to cast a new ballot. BALLOT SCOPE: During this IEEE 802.3 Working Group 1st recirculation ballot, the scope of the ballot is the substantive changes between IEEE P802.3de/D2.0 and IEEE P802.3de/D2.1 and the unsatisfied negative comments. CRITERIA FOR STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT: One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is consistent with the criteria for standards development (CSD) responses which are available at <https://mentor.ieee.org/802-ec/dcn/21/ec-21-0197-00-ACSD-p802-3de.pdf>.
An Approve vote indicates your agreement that the draft is consistent with the CSD responses. BALLOT OPEN: Friday 28th January 2022 BALLOT CLOSE: Saturday 12th February 2022 23:59 AOE The Project Authorization Request for this Amendment is available at <https://ieee802.org/3/de/P802d3de_PAR.pdf> and includes the following: TITLE: Standard for Ethernet Amendment: Enhancements to the MAC Merge function and the Time Synchronization Service Interface (TSSI) to Include Point-to-Point 10 Mb/s Single Pair Ethernet SCOPE OF PROJECT: Specify additions to and appropriate modifications of the IEEE Std 802.3 MAC Merge function and the Time Synchronization Service Interface (TSSI) to support 10 Mb/s Single Pair Ethernet point to point PHYs. Extend IEEE Std 802.3 to add 10 Mb/s Single Pair Ethernet point to point PHYs to the PHYs supporting the MAC Merge function and the Time Synchronization Service Interface (TSSI). NEED FOR THE PROJECT: IEEE Std 802.3cg-2019 defined point-to-point 10Mb/s PHYs with characteristics suitable for use in automotive, building and industrial automation environments. Many of the targeted application areas require Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN)
functionality and benefit from support of IEEE 802.3 functions used by frame preemption as specified by IEEE Std 802.1Q and the generalized precision time protocol as specified by IEEE Std 802.1AS. This project seeks to enable the use of MAC Merge and TSSI
with these PHYs. The 10 Mb/s point-to-point PHYs specified in IEEE Std 802.3cg-2019 are currently excluded from one or both of these functions Thank you for your participation in this ballot and careful review of the draft. <http://ieee802.org/3/ballots/p802d3_comment_entry_tutorial_v1p0.pdf> a. Access the comment spreadsheet at the URL: <http://www.ieee802.org/3/WG_tools/spreadsheet/802d3_TFR_WGB_comments.xls> b. Access the comment tool at the URL: <http://www.ieee802.org/3/WG_tools/filemaker/Generic_Commenting_Tool_FM.zip> To use the tool, extract all components into a folder and do not move any component from that folder as this will cause the executable to not work correctly. The tool is: Comment_Tool_Generic_Solution.exe c. To submit comments in text (ASCII) form, please use the form below. This will make it possible for the editor to properly record and track all submissions. Make as many copies of the template as necessary and submit as an ASCII text
file or as part of your e-mail. PLEASE NOTE: The ASCII method involves a manual transcription, hence you are recommended to check your comments to ensure accurate transcription when the comment file is made available. Please use one of the comment tools above if possible. ------CUT AND PASTE TEXT BELOW THIS LINE ONLY PLEASE-------- CommentID: (Leave Blank) CommenterName: CommenterCompany: Clause: Subclause: Page: Line: CommentType: (E, ER, T, or TR) Comment: CommentEnd: SuggestedRemedy: RemedyEnd: --------------------end comment template------------------ 2.
