All, as discussed during the interim meeting last week, I am chartering an ad hoc to provide recommendations on integrating APL power with clause 104 power as part of IEEE P802.3dg. Mary Sue Haydt has agreed to chair the ad hoc.
Please see https://www.ieee802.org/3/dg/public/May_2024/mueller_802.3dg_01_2024-09-13.pdf for information on the subject.
While the scope of IEEE P802.3dg includes not only the PHY but also “associated optional provision of power”, it is important to understand the goals and the breadth of work that may be needed to accomplish them. It is my intent that this ad hoc will help the Task Force scope the issues and changes proposed to clause 104, so that at the November meeting the Task Force can have an informed discussion on whether the task fits within the scope and timeframe of 802.3dg.
