All,
I have received a request for a new topic to be addressed in an NEA Ad hoc call by Steve Gorshe and Richard Tse to discuss PTP Timestamping Clarifications.
Date: April 16 (Tues)
Time: 10am to 11:30am ET
As an introduction:
Clarifications are needed in clause 90 to unambiguously define how Alignment Marker functions affect PTP timestamping
1. Clarify Tx and Rx Path Data Delay
2. Clearly specify how AM and Idle insertion/deletion affect PTP timestamps
3. Clarify how to account for the lane distribution impact on the latency difference between the MII and the PHY of each lane
Steve and Richard previously gave a presentation to Maintenance. This presentation will provide interested parties with background, and may be found at http://www.ieee802.org/3/maint/public/gorshe_1_0119.pdf. Richard indicated to me that there may be some further updates to this deck, but it is their intent to go over this presentation on the NEA call.
