Review of Patent Policy.
o
Chair read the Call for Potentially Essential Patents – no replies.

FEC-aware channel bonding brainstorming session (Duane Remein)
o
Main concern is how you control bursts, when lasers turn on and off, how to ensure bursts can be started and stopped at the same time.
o
Glen recommendation: keep doing what you’re doing, but get rid of requirement to start and stop bursts at the same time.
o
Why is the buffering a problem? External memory will have interface challenges, memory internal to the ASIC will have cost challenges
o
Need to reduce memory, but not at the expense of performance
o
Would like to see ideas from others.
o
Next steps: target two weeks from now, 7/14, to continue discussion.
