All, Attached is the updated (1a) version of the wavelength plan comparison contribution.
Changes: Slide 9: updated scores after fixing the error that Alan pointed out (no qualitative difference) Slide 10: clarified that Plan C TDM supports GPON co-existence for 25G only (not 100G) Slide 13: added item to “next steps” based on today’s discussion on possible lower Ge/Si performance outside of O-band. Ed From: Harstead, Ed (Nokia - US) Alan, Thanks for catching that bug! Fixed spreadsheet is attached. Ed From: ALAN BROWN [mailto:ALAN.BROWN@xxxxxxxxxx]
Hi Ed, Great work; thank you! I’m wondering about the formula for "Total weighted scores" cells D25:D30. I thought each would have summed across columns “D” through “M”, but instead stop at column “L”. It affects only one
relative score: plan “A" vs. "C WDM". Alan From: "Harstead, Ed (Nokia - US)" <ed.harstead@xxxxxxxxx> All, You can see our contribution on the updated wavelength plan comparison model here:
harstead_3ca_3_1116.pdf. Until last week the model showed Plans A, B, C about equal, similar to the original model. But then based on feedback from Dekun and others, I separated out the criteria that did directly affect cost. So I am
a little embarrassed that the model now strongly indicates that the proposals that we have made “win” (slide 9). However, I put those “other factors” now into a separate table (slide 10). So the answer lies with the balancing of low cost with these other
factors. In case anyone is interested in playing with the model, I have attached the spreadsheet. The weights in the yellow highlighted cells can be adjusted. Ed From: Curtis Knittle [mailto:C.Knittle@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]
Hello everyone, All contributions and the agenda for next week’s 802.3ca Task Force meeting are now posted on the .3ca website: http://www.ieee802.org/3/ca/public/meeting_archive/2016/11/index.shtml Note from the agenda we will start Tues, Wed, and Thurs meetings at 9 am. Thursday’s meeting may not be necessary depending on new business or potential ad hoc discussions – the Task Force will make this determination
