[802.3_NGEPON] FW: ITU JCA-IMT2020 liaison letter inviting IEEE 802.3 update for IMT2020 roadmap

Dear Colleagues,

I’m sending this again because task force members have said they didn’t receive it.

Subject: ITU JCA-IMT2020 liaison letter inviting IEEE 802.3 update for IMT2020 roadmap

Hi Curtis,

At the IEEE 802.3 plenary meeting last November, IEEE 802.3 considered a liaison letter from ITU JCA-IMT2020 inviting IEEE 802.3 to provide an update to the IMT2020 roadmap <http://www.ieee802.org/3/minutes/nov18/incoming/JCA_IMT2020_LS-05_to_IEEE_802d3.pdf>. As the next meeting of ITU JCA-IMT2020 is in March 2019 IEEE 802.3 agreed to defer generating a response to this letter until the upcoming January 2019 interim. On review of the roadmap I see that three IEEE 802.3 projects are listed, IEEE P802.3ca, IEEE P802.3cc and IEEE P802.3cd <https://www.itu.int/net4/ITU-T/roadmap#?topic=0.130&workgroup=1.1178.1292&searchValue=&page=1&sort=Revelance>.

Since IEEE P802.3ca is the only one of the above three projects that will be meeting next week I'd like to request that the IEEE P802.3ca Task Force review this letter and referenced roadmap, and based on this review make a recommendation at the IEEE 802.3 interim meeting on Thursday evening next week if there should be a reply, and if so, propose a draft reply.

I would personally suggest that there should be an entry for IEEE Std 802.3-2018 and updates should be provided to the current entries in the roadmap as IEEE P802.3cc has been approved and published, and IEEE 802.3cd has been approved. I would also personally suggest that you reach to the other IEEE 802.3 Task Force chairs, I think I have CCed the relevant ones, to see if they think entries for their projects should be added to the roadmap.

Thanks and best regards,

  David
