[802.3_10SPE] Announcing pre-CFI consensus calls on "10Mb/s Backplane Et

Dear Colleagues,

In 802.3cg 10SPE in September(http://www.ieee802.org/3/cg/public/Sept2017/index.html), we discussed backplane (aka “intra-system” or “Management Interface”) use cases. See http://www.ieee802.org/3/cg/public/Sept2017/bains_lewis_3cg_01b_0917.pdf and motion #15 in http://www.ieee802.org/3/cg/public/Sept2017/motions_3cg_01a_0917.pdf.

There was good support from the group for these use cases, but adding a backplane media type is currently out of scope for 802.3cg. Based on the discussion and interest from the group, a CFI has been requested for the November Plenary.

We will hold a set of preparation and consensus building calls. They will share the timeslot with the regularly scheduled 802.3cg 10SPE Task Force Ad Hoc meetings listed below:

· Wed Oct 11th @ 7-9 PT

· Wed Oct 25th @ 7-9 PT

Outlook invitations with Webex are attached to this email.

The purpose of the calls will be to walk through the draft presentation ahead of the CFI meeting at the November Plenary to gather feedback (and hopefully supporters).
