This is the announcement of the electronic P802.3ch Multi-Gigabit Automotive Ethernet PHY Task Force 2nd. review on P802.3ch/D1.2 Standard for Ethernet Physical Layer Specifications and Management Parameters for Greater Than 1 Gb/s Automotive Ethernet. Instructions for accessing the draft and submitting comments follow this announcement. The Project Authorization Request for this amendment is posted at http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/802/3/ch/P802.3ch_PAR.pdf and includes the following: TITLE: Standard for Ethernet Physical Layer Specifications and Management Parameters for Greater Than 1 Gb/s Automotive Ethernet SCOPE: Specify additions to and appropriate modifications of IEEE Std 802.3 to add greater than 1 Gb/s Physical Layer (PHY) specifications and management parameters for media and operating conditions for applications in the automotive environment. PURPOSE: This document will not include a purpose clause. NEED FOR THE PROJECT: Applications in automotive industries have begun the transition of legacy automotive networks to Ethernet to support Advanced Driver Assist Systems. This has generated a need for data rates greater than 1 Gb/s in the automotive environment. IEEE Std 802.3 does not currently support rates greater than 1 Gb/s in the automotive environment. REVIEW SCOPE: As a Task Force review, the scope is the complete draft. REVIEW OPEN: 22-March 2019 REVIEW CLOSE: 7 April 2019 23:59 AOE Thank you for your participation in this review and careful review of the draft. Steven B. Any comments submitted as "required" will be treated as E or T. You do not have to be an IEEE 802.3 Working Group voter to comment in Task Force review. 1. Prepare your comments in one of the following two ways. You are STRONGLY REQUESTED to use either the comment tool or spreadsheet. A comment entry tutorial is available at: <http://ieee802.org/3/ballots/p802d3_comment_entry_tutorial_v1p0.pdf> a. Access the comment tool at the URL: <http://www.ieee802.org/3/WG_tools/filemaker/Generic_Commenting_Tool_FM.zip> To use the tool, extract all components into a folder and do not move any component from that folder as this will cause the executable to not work correctly. The tool is: Comment_Tool_Generic_Solution.exe b. Access the comment spreadsheet at the URL: <http://www.ieee802.org/3/WG_tools/spreadsheet/802d3_TFR_WGB_comments.xls> Always download the latest version prior to commenting as the spreadsheet is updated to maintain compatibility with IEEE process. 2. Send your comments to: NATALIE WIENCKOWSKI <NWIENCKOWSKI@xxxxxxx> and scarlson@xxxxxxxx and paste into the subject line: P802.3ch/D1.2 Standard for Ethernet Physical Layer Specifications and Management Parameters for Greater Than 1 Gb/s Automotive Ethernet comments.
