All, Our second study group meeting is scheduled for plenary week, July 12-15, in Portland, OR. If you plan to make a presentation during this meeting, please send me the following information before July 7th so I can put the agenda together. * Title of presentation * Person presenting * Length of presentation, including Q&A I would also like to have the actual presentations to me by the end of the day on the 9th so that I can get them on the web before I leave for Portland. Please remember that, as a study group, our job is to put together the PAR, 5 Criteria and objectives. Please attempt to tune all presentations to these topics. I've included the list of objectives we discussed and agreed to in Long Beach. We should continue with this list. Task Force Objectives: * Provide a mechanism for rate limiting * Support for full duplex Study Group Objectives: * Evaluate 802.3x with finer granularity * Address latency, latency variation and frame loss * Evaluate rate limiting ** Feed forward/back ** Static/dynamic * No changes to PHYs * This is not an end-to-end flow control * No new methods for traffic classification * No reordering of packets within a class * Be consistent with 802.3 and 802.1 layer architecture * Be consistent with slow protocols (e.g. OAM) There are other objectives that were considered, discussed and deferred or received an unfavorable vote on pages 22-26 of the following presentation. http://www.ieee802.org/3/cm_study/public/may04/agenda_1_0504.pdf Thanks, Ben -- ----------------------------------------- Benjamin Brown 178 Bear Hill Road Chichester, NH 03258 603-491-0296 - Cell 603-798-4115 - Office benjamin-dot-brown-at-ieee-dot-org (Will this cut down on my spam???) ----------------------------------------- |
