Agenda:
Review state of presentations
* Enterprise needs generated by Gopal, trying to line up
IBM to present
* Telecom Requirements generated and to be presented by
Shashank Merchant, Nokia
* Hugh wasn't on the call so we couldn't get an update
on the 802.1/802.3 work split
* Protocol/simulations presentation to be taken from previous
work in this area - to be presented by Manoj
Walk through my presentation
* History
* Participation
* Objectives - still need to add this one
* Introduction
Important to talk about what we're not doing as well as
what we're doing, e.g. design a "reactive" protocol like
802.3x that can have congestion spreading attribute
Prsenters, please provide me a copy of your presentation
by Monday, Nov 8. I'll put all the presentations together
and get them back to interested parties by that night.
We'll discuss these on Wednesday's phone call.
Some discussion about the plans for the November meeting
* Joint discussion with 802.1 on Tuesday morning
** Use this time to make progress with the 802.1 portion
of the project, including the 802.1 PAR
** Bring them up to speed with the project, which might
reduce the questions & concerns later that night at the
tutorial
* There is some concern that our proposed solutions aren't
solving the problems seen by the Telco market
** My recommendation is that those with this concern need
to bring presentations to educate the group with what we're
missing
* Plans for Thursday afternoon
** Put forward motion for 802.3 to forward PAR and 5 Criteria
to Exec and Standards Board (NesCom)
** Put forward motion to extend the study group should the
January meeting be scheduled before the PAR is approved
Information on next week's call will be sent to the reflector
Schedule:
1st draft by 27-Oct
Follow up call on 3-Nov
Final call on 10-Nov
Tutorial scheduled for 2nd slot Tuesday night
