[8023-CMTF] IEEE 802.3 September 2006 Interim Session - Knoxville, TN - September 18 - 21 - 3rd. Reminder
Colleagues,
This is (yet) another gentle reminder notice to book your hotel room for the
September Interim Meeting. We have still have space in the room block, and,
as always, appreciate it as we must fill a minimum number or rooms to defer
the cost of the meeting rooms and avoid penalties. As an incentive for
booking at the Hilton, you will also have a lower meeting fee. The Hilton
offers free in-room wireless Internet access and is located in the heart of
downtown, close to restaurants (see http://www.knoxmag.com/restaurants.php4)
for a extensive list.
We have had a very good room block pickup. Thank you!
Rooms are still available in our block for all nights from Sunday, September
17, through Thursday, September 21, at the group rate of $129. Non-smoking
rooms are available for all nights. Your first choice of room type (king or
double/double) may not be available. The hotel is sold out for the nights
before and after our block - Saturday, September 16, and Friday, September
22. In fact, all downtown hotels will likely be sold out for these nights,
as there are college football games both weekends that draw huge crowds. If
you are arriving on Saturday the 16th., we recommend that you stay at an
airport hotel that night and come into Knoxville on Sunday. That's what I'm
doing. It will be much quieter.
If you have experienced difficulty making a reservation at the Hilton,
please let me know so that I can solve the problem for you. Alternately, our
Hilton Sales Manager, Angie Campbell, invites you to contact her directly,
and she will address any concerns about smoking preference, room
availability, etc. If you talk to Angie you will experience the superb level
of customer service we have enjoyed from the hotel while making arrangements
for the Interim. Angie may be reached by phone or e-mail at +1-865-251-2572
or acampbell@richfield.com.
To recap:
The September Interim will be held in Knoxville, TN. We were unable to find
a suitable venue in eastern Canada, since it is high season there and our
meeting requirements are challenging to many hotels.
Knoxville is the home of the University of Tennessee and is located near the
Great Smokey Mountains. IEEE 802.3 will be the meeting host and a meeting
fee will be collected on-site.
