[802.3AZ] P802.3az project update
Dear colleagues,
We had a good meeting during the IEEE 802 Plenary this week. All of our
comments
were considered all of our goals for the week were met. The IEEE
802.3 Working Group
voted in favor of requesting the Working Group Chair request conditional
approval to begin
sponsor ballot on P802.3az to the EC (Executive Committee) by a vote of
Yes: 54, No: 1
and Abstain: 2. Friday afternoon the EC voted in favor of the motion
for conditional approval
to go to sponsor ballot.
P802.3az is now well on its way to the next phase of the project. I
thank those of you who
have been actively participating in the development of the draft
standard for getting us this far,
and especially the editorial team for their continued hard work.
That said, we still have a lot of work to do. The condition we have to
meet to get
to sponsor ballot is the successful completion of Working Group ballot.
We have
another recirculation planned. To complete Working Group ballot on the
next
recirculation, that means no new in-scope negative ballots and no
substantive
changes to D2.4.
As previously announced, there will be a 1-day interim meeting of the
IEEE P802.3az
task force at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab on April 8, 2010 to resolve
comments
on D2.4. I hope this will be a short meeting. Teleconferencing will be
provided. If you
are planning to attend, be sure to send me an email requesting a parking
permit. If you
do not have a perking permit in advance of the meeting, it will be very
difficult to get
access to the Lab and if you do not arrive early you may not find
parking near the meeting
facility. The meeting will start at 8:30 AM PDT.
I look forward to our next phase of the project.
Best regards,
Mike
