Thanks for the feedback. So, the interpretation I get is that OAM in
preamble is handled at the bottom of the MAC and OAM in frames is handled at
the top of the MAC.
It also sounds like this will require a re-write of all the 802.3 RS to be
able to handle the response to these messages in a timely manner.
Has anyone sat down and figured out which clauses are impacted by these OAM
schemes? Even though the concept of OAM in preamble sounds simple and
elegant, I get the feeling that the impact to clauses in 802.3 may be
considered beyond the scope of 802.3ah's PAR.
