[EFM] obnoxious reflector messages
Dear Members of the IEEE 802.3ah EFM Task Force,
As you are doubtless aware, we have been subjected to
a barrage of offensive messages on our reflectors over the
past couple of weeks. I am working with the IEEE IT staff
to mitigate the problem, and I promise to spare no effort.
You can help, especially if you are conversant with Perl
regular expressions. If you can discern a pattern in any of
the headers or the body of the unwanted messages, and you
can create a Perl regexp that will reliably detect that pattern,
I will be happy to add the regexp to the filters on the majordomo
resend subsystem, thus hopefully blocking the messages.
At the suggestion of one of you, I have added a regexp that will
hopefully filter out any messages that contain HTML with an
image tag. This should put an end to the graphic images that we
have been bombarded with. As a consequence, you won't be
able to send any HTML files with an embedded image tag to
the reflector. Fortunately, I have never seen a legitimate message
with this content on the reflector thus far.
Any and all constructive suggestions are welcome.
