[EFM-P2MP] clarification of grant and report

Dear Members of P2MP STF,

I am writing this e-mail for clarification of grant and report. Attached
is a figure describing a detail of one grant. The points I want to
clarify are: a) the position of IFG especially in the case of one frame
transmission (for instance, sending REGISTER_REQ), and b) definition of
Queue Report.

On a), there would be two possibilities. One is inserting IFG before the
preamble as indicated in the figure. The other is after transmission.
The latter seems more legitimate, but in this case, we don't have to
consider PCS trailer (/T/R/R/) and IFG at the same time (IFC can include
/T/R/R/), while we see these two in the RANDOM WAIT state in Figure
64-27. Therefore, the position of after transmission does not make sense
from the interpretation of the current draft.

On b), queue reports represent bandwidth requirement for upstream. Thus
the reports should include frame sizes as well as IFG, preamble, etc.
Does everyone agree with this definition?

I would like to hear opinions on this issue.

Thanks,
Hidekazu
