This indeed was a shocking email. Hugh was a great support during the 4-pair PoE CFI. I have known him for only a short time but the impact he left is forever. We will all miss his presence around.
May his soul rest in peace

It is with the greatest sadness that I have to tell you that Hugh Barrass passed away suddenly last night. I can’t even attempt to do justice to the level of contribution and impact Hugh has had on the industry through his work in the IEEE standards and
beyond. Hugh’s great humor, insights, knowledge and friendship will be sorely missed by many.
At this time, I do not have any information on any funeral or memorial arrangements but I will forward on details when I know more. Feel free to reach out to me (mnowell@xxxxxxxxx) if you have any questions.
We will try to gather somehow at next month’s meeting and have a celebration of Hugh’s life. I know many will want to share remembrances and thoughts, could you please direct them to the DIALOG reflector only. I think these are archived.
