[802.3_DIALOG] IEEE 802.3 documents for March business
Dear Colleagues,
In an effort to expedite the IEEE 802.3 Opening Plenary I wanted to announce by email the following documents for March business.
In respect to the PARs from other IEEE 802 Working Groups, Bob Grow has kindly offered to run an Ad Hoc on Monday afternoon to develop comments to be submitted from the IEEE 802.3 Working Group. I will seek concurrence of the IEEE 802.3 Working Group at the opening plenary in respect to this course of action as the deadline for submitting comments is 18:30 on Tuesday, before IEEE 802.3 will meet again. Bob has already shared some initial comments on the IEEE 802.3 Dialog reflector <http://www.ieee802.org/3/email_dialog/msg00238.html>.

IEEE 802.3 Next Generation EPON (NG-EPON) report draft D2.0 <http://www.ieee802.org/3/ad_hoc/ngepon/private/report/NG_EPON_IC_R2_0.pdf> has been circulated in expectation of request for approval at the IEEE 802.3 closing plenary. I will use the approval process I have used in the past for the approval of an IEEE 802.3 Industry Connection report, a vote of the IEEE 802.3 Working Group, I will rule it technical, it will therefore have to pass by 75%. If a request is made to send the report out for letter ballot I will rule this request procedural and it will require a majority to pass. Such a motion requesting a letter ballot will take precedence over a motion to approve the report there and then.
IEEE 802.3 Next Generation Enterprise Access BASE-T PHY Study Group

A draft new PAR, IEEE P802.3bz Standard for Ethernet Amendment: Media Access Control Parameters, Physical Layers and Management Parameters for 2.5 Gb/s and 5 Gb/s Operation, and supporting CSD and objectives, have been circulated in expectation of request for necessary approvals at the IEEE 802.3 closing plenary.
