an email to me indicating the presentation title\, a brief description\,
and approximate presentation/discussion time before 5pm Pacific\, Wednesda

t PT Wednesday\, 21 June.\n\n\nThere are now guidelines in respect to noti
fication of IEEE 802 participation requirements. The ad hoc announcement
and the ad hoc agenda slides will now have a link to the IEEE 802 Particip
ation slide (http://www.ieee802.org/devdocs.shtml) indicating that partici
pants should read the document prior to the meeting. Please take the time
to review the participation slides and contact either myself or Mark Nowe

ctrical isolation' throughout IEEE Std 802.3 requiring isolation meet one
of three electrical strength tests with references to IEC 60950-1 'Informa
tion technology equipment - Safety - Part 1: General requirements'. Howeve
r\, IEC 62368-1 'Audio/video\, information and communication technology eq
uipment - Part 1: Safety requirements' will soon replace IEC 60950-1\, as
well as IEC 60065 'Audio\, video and similar electronic apparatus - Safety
requirements'. IEC 62368-1 is not just a merge of these two standards\, i
t is a new standard that has been developed using Hazard-Based Safety Engi
neering (HBSE)\, and is more performance oriented.\n\nBased on the above I
chartered an IEEE 802.3 Isolation Ad Hoc under the IEEE 802.3 Working Gro
up to examine the current isolation text in IEEE Std 802.3 and\, if requir
ed\, build consensus on proposed updates\, either through the maintenance
request process or amendment project.\n\nI appointed Jon Lewis to Chair th
is Ad Hoc\, he will be announcing details of the first call shortly.\n\n\n
