[802.3_DIALOG] IEEE 802.3 July 2023 plenary meeting announcement

Dear Colleagues,

IEEE 802.3 will hold its July 2023 plenary session from Monday 10 July 2023 through Thursday 13 July 2023. The plenary session will be held at the Estrel Berlin, Berlin, Germany with support for mixed-mode attendance (i.e., remote attendance). Please note that the meetings are being planned around an in-person schedule, with remote access provided on a best-effort basis.

The IEEE 802.3 Working Group (WG) opening plenary meeting will begin at 10h00 CEST (08h00 UTC) on Monday 10 July 2023, and the IEEE 802.3 WG closing plenary meeting will begin at 13h00 CEST (11h00 UTC) on Thursday 13 July 2023. I will provide the IEEE 802.3 Working Group opening and closing plenary meeting call information and calendar invitations shortly. Task Force (TF) standing committee and any appropriate ad hoc meetings will be scheduled between the opening and closing IEEE 802.3 meetings. Please always check <https://ieee802.org/3/calendar.html> for the most up-to-date information.

As always, the IEEE 802 LMSC session announcement, registration and current hotel information can be found through the 'Next IEEE 802.3 meeting notice' link <https://www.ieee802.org/3/interims/index.html>. To receive email updates and reminders for the plenary sessions, subscribe to the stds-802-ALL reflector <https://listserv.ieee.org/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=stds-802-ALL&A=1>. Payment of a registration fee is REQUIRED BY ANYONE THAT ATTENDS ANY MEETING held during this plenary session. The registration website can be accessed directly at <https://cvent.me/NK7vPg>.

The draft agendas, as well as liaison letters received so far, are available in the minutes area <https://ieee802.org/3/minutes/jul23/index.html> and will be updated as required before the meeting. The agenda will be approved at the meeting.

We will gather two records of attendance: [1] the attendance tracking tool (IMAT); and [2] attendance books in each face-to-face meeting along with the teleconference tool attendance. The IMAT attendance tool will be the only official record of attendance for building and maintaining WG membership. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO LOG YOUR ATTENDANCE IN THE IMAT ATTENDANCE TRACKING TOOL. There is no requirement for the IEEE 802.3 Recording Secretary or any other IEEE 802.3 officer to add your attendance to the IMAT attendance tracking tool if you forget to register it during a meeting. The meeting attendance books along with the teleconference tool attendance will be used to record the attendance in the minutes for each meeting and you must review these minutes to make sure your attendance is recorded correctly.

Attendance credit toward membership requires attendance at three of the four days of the IEEE 802.3 session, independent of how long a particular subgroup might be meeting. The attendance tracking tool will only allow sign-in on Monday at the opening IEEE 802.3 plenary and on Thursday at the closing IEEE 802.3 plenary meeting (not during the Monday afternoon or Thursday morning meetings). Several WG decisions are expected during the IEEE 802.3 meetings (most during the Thursday Closing plenary meetings). Depending on the amount of discussion, IEEE 802.3 WG meetings may run beyond their target ending times, so please plan your time accordingly.

I look forward to seeing you in Berlin, Germany.

Ethernet for Automotive Imaging Sensors call for interest
=========================================================

CFI page: <http://www.ieee802.org/3/cfi/request_0723_1.html>

The following request for agenda time for an Ethernet for Automotive Imaging Sensors call for interest has been received from Kirsten Matheus and George Zimmerman.

----

This is a call for interest to initiate a Study Group to develop a PAR and CSD for an electrical Ethernet physical layer and associated interface client specifications optimized for automotive imaging sensors. We believe there is a timely market opportunity for the introduction of such specialized interfaces now as the number of cameras per vehicle grows rapidly. The target automotive cameras stream multigigabit-speed data from the sensor and have low-utilization, intermittent control data in the other direction over the Ethernet link. While traditional Ethernet is asymmetric, these new physical layers may benefit from additional control between the MAC and the PHY, e.g., at the Reconciliation Sublayer, to optimize the MAC/PHY interfacing and PHY power/complexity. These new physical layer applications operate under very tight power and cost/complexity constraints, creating the opportunity for new or modified 802.3 standards to better serve the application.

----

The call for interest will take place during the IEEE 802.3 Opening Plenary on the morning of Monday 10 July 2023. A call for interest consensus building meeting has been scheduled to occur from 19:30 to 21:00 CEST (17:30 to 19:00 UTC) on the evening of Tuesday 11 July 2023. The vote to determine if a Study Group will be formed will take place at the IEEE 802.3 Closing Plenary on the afternoon of Thursday 13 July 2023.
