All, The IEEE P802.3ba Task Force will be meeting during the March
IEEE 802 Plenary Meeting (March 16 – 21, 2008). Meeting details may
be found at http://ieee802.facetoface-events.com/sessions/47/index.php.
You are strongly encouraged to make your reservations as soon as
possible. Web
pre-registration closes at 6pm PT, Friday, February 29, 2008 (UTC Time:
Saturday, March 1, 2008, 2am). The Task Force will be
meeting all day Tuesday, all day Wednesday, and Thursday morning until noon (March
18 -20). The agenda for the meeting will be to work towards the
development of a baseline. Presentations for the week should be focused
on proposals, and first priority will be given to presentations related to
currently adopted objectives. At the January Interim
meeting we heard a number of presentations related to proposals for
architecture, providing appropriate support for OTN, electrical interfaces, the
SMF PMD’s, the Cu cabling PMD’s, and backplane. As a reminder
to the group, we are a contribution driven organization, and we do have a
fairly large project underway. It should not be assumed by anyone that
work will just get done without contributions to drive it. Areas not
moving forward will be brought to the attention of the Task Force for
consideration on how to address, as such issues can not be allowed to threaten
the overall project schedule. Anyone wishing to present, please provide the following
information (per Procedure for Presenters web page: http://www.ieee802.org/3/hssg/public/presentproc.html:
Requests for presentation time must be made two Fridays
preceding the meeting. For the March Plenary meeting, requests for
presentation time shall be made to me at jdambrosia@ieee.org,
and must be made by Marcy 7, 2008. The presenter shall e-mail a PDF,
soft-copy version of the presentation to me at jdambrosia@ieee.org by Tuesday of
the week preceding the meeting. For the March Plenary, presentations must
be submitted by March 11, 2008. As a reminder, please make sure that all
requests for presentations or submissions of presentation material have no
restrictive notices at the bottom of the email. All such emails will be
refused and requests / presentations will not be acknowledged. All individuals submitting presentations should review the Procedures
for Presenters Page (http://www.ieee802.org/3/hssg/public/presentproc.html).
I would greatly appreciate presenters reviewing their own presentations to
verify that they have followed the cited Presentation Style Guidelines. Also, to support the web site search tool used
by the IEEE P802.3 web site the 'Document Information' fields of the PDF file
must be completed as follows:
At the last meeting a number of individuals forwarded
presentations to our webmaster, Frank, asking him to post presentations. All
should note that files are not posted until they have been reviewed, so please
follow directions noted above. Additional meeting information – The 802.3 Opening Plenary starts Monday at 1pm, and is
typically completed by 6pm. The 802.3 Closing Plenary starts Thursday at 1pm. Individuals eligible to become 802.3 voters are reminded
that they must be at one of these two meetings to request voting rights. In addition, as announced at the last meeting, arrangements are
being made to have a “Frame” tutorial. The meeting has been tentatively
scheduled for Monday night 6:30pm to 8:00pm. All individuals intending to
volunteer as part of the Task Force editorial team need to attend this meeting.
Final details will be sent out as soon as confirmed. If you did not
indicate you would be participating in the “Frame” tutorial during
the straw poll in January, please contact me. All attendees should have
Frame loaded on their laptops for the tutorial session. Version 7.0 is
preferred. I look forward to seeing everyone in Best Regards, Chair, IEEE 802.3ba Task Force Tel: 717.460.8535 Email jdambrosia@ieee.org |
