All,
please find attached a contribution
for tomorrow's call. This work examines the market for XR MM optics
in data centers thru the year 2015. It may surprise you to see, that
based on the projected market for 10G and 40G servers by Robert Hayes at
Intel and Howard Frazier at Broadcom, the market for XR MM channels is
sizable, with cumulative PMDs exceeding 1,500,000 at 100G. This likely
dwarfs the size of the market for other baselined solutions like 100G-ER4,
elevating it to far more than a niche. The importance of this solution
is amplified by its ability to remove a market barrier erected by economically
infeasible alternatives. After reviewing this material, I think you
will agree with me that the combination of these two features justifies
its standardization.
