Dear Task Force Participants, Since last week’s announcement of the third Working
Group recirculation ballot on IEEE P802.3ba, I have received a number of calls
and emails with questions regarding proceeding to Sponsor Ballot. For your reference at the start of every meeting in the
Agenda and General Information a summary of the Bylaws and Rules is provided
and an overview of the 802.3 Standards Process is given. Please see http://www.ieee802.org/3/ba/public/sep09/agenda_01_0909.pdf
for this presentation from the September 2009 Interim meeting. In summary, if at the end of comment
resolution at the November Plenary meeting any substantive changes to Draft 2.3
are required, or there any in-scope disapprove comments that are not pile-ons,
a recirculation will be required. If a recirculation is required, the Task Force may ask for Conditional
Approval at the November meeting to forward the draft standard to sponsor
ballot. Please note that there are a number of scheduling challenges that
will need to be overcome if the adopted Task Force schedule for ratification of
the standard is to be maintained. This will be discussed at the November
Plenary. Please feel free to contact me if you should have any
further questions. Regards, John D’Ambrosia Chair, IEEE P802.3ba |
