Attendance at March 802 Plenary

Colleagues:

First, let me thank all of you who have already responded. I truly
appreciate it.

As most of you know, the attendance at both the Plenary and Interim meetings
has increased significantly in the last year. The meeting planners have had
to scramble to accommodate these ever-growing numbers. Our group in
particular has suffered from "meeting room crunch" several times.

The concern at present is that the economic slowdown may reduce our
attendance. Some of our colleagues who have attended other standard's
meetings in the last few weeks have reported a drop in attendance. If this
is the case, the meeting planners are worried about overbooking meeting
space, continental breakfast, coffee and cookies :-), etc. There are severe
financial penalties to 802 if we need to reduce our numbers after the
contacts are in place. We understand that getting an exact count is
unlikely, but it would certainly would be nice to know if we're getting 500
people instead of 1000+.

If you have not responded, please take a moment and let me know by noon on
Monday, February 19. Also, let me remind you again to pre-register. It's
easy to do on the Web.

Again, thank you for your rapid responses.

Regards,

Steve
