1) There are definitely better ways of saying "zero packet loss" ... the
intent was "all resources preallocated so that no packets are lost because
of resource starvation"
2) let's see, 1 error per 6 hours .... assuming an ATSC HD stream at about
24Mb/s, this means and error rate of about
1/(6hrs*60min/hr*60s/min*24e6bits/s) or about 1/(0.518e12) or about 1.93e-12
What an interesting coincidence! Ethernet and Firewire both are 1e-12 error
rate systems! We can stream comfortably without a higher level FEC method.
Guess we can't ever use wireless, however, at least for streaming. Somebody
should tell the WiMedia people.
