Re: [RE] meeting scheduling
Title: meeting scheduling
Michael,
This might not be a
good idea. Almost every time I've gone to a meeting where that is the plan,
people end up arriving later and leaving earlier than the announced meeting
times. Looking at flight schedules from Northern California to Austin, 1:30 PM
is about the earliest touch down times one can expect without taking a red-eye.
2:30pm is about the earliest you could expect to get critical mass - if the
weather is good so flights are on time. Then on Tuesday people are likely to
start bailing by 2 pm to make flights home (there are later flights, but people
don't seem to be able to resist booking the earlier ones rather than getting
home near midnight). Compounding the decreased time, efficiency the first "half"
day is often down because too many participants have gotten up before 4 AM to
catch early morning flights.
Also, many of the RE
participants are new to IEEE 802.3 process. I think it would be beneficial to
future progress for people to spend a little time observing some of the
groups with more experienced participation. Minimizing the time people
spend in Austin is not the most efficient way to progress.
Regards,
Pat

scheduling
Would anybody have a strong objection if we have the
SG meeting from 1:30pm until 6:30pm on Monday, May 16 and from 8:00 AM until
4:00PM on Tuesday? That would allow people in the US to leave home on Monday
morning and get back Tuesday night?
