John – I believe it would be. The desire for notification came out of the discussion at the November rules meeting, driven by a concern that we wanted a mechanism to prevent ‘zombie’ ICAIDs autorenewing without continued relevance.

Pursuant to Clause 17 of the IEEE 802 LMSC Operations Manual:
Revisions to the IEEE 802 LMSC OM shall be submitted by a IEEE 802 LMSC member to the IEEE 802 LMSC no less than 30 day in advance of a motion (or conclusion of an electronic ballot) to approve them. Amendments in response to comments on
the proposed revision are permitted.
(although previously discussed), I am formally submitting a proposal to change the operations manual to reflect renewal and auto-renewal of unchanged ICAIDs as described in
https://mentor.ieee.org/802-ec/dcn/25/ec-25-0035-00-LMSC-march-2025-rules-meeting.pdf at slides 15 & 16.
Based on the discussions that we had at the November rules meeting, and my follow up with staff on ICAID renewal notification, I am proposing that we amend the LMSC Operations Manual, at 10.2 to add a new 3rd Paragraph:
Notice of intent to revise or withdraw the ICAID shall be submitted to the IEEE 802 LMSC no less than 30 days prior to the day of the opening IEEE 802 LMSC meeting of an IEEE 802 LMSC Plenary Session. An ICAID subject to ICCOM auto-renewal or an unchanged
renewal shall not require IEEE 802 LMSC approval. The ICAID contact shall notify the LMSC when an ICAID is proposed for renewal.
