RE: IEEE 802 Nov Plenary Meeting Arrangements
Stuart,
In answer to your side question about non-wireless regulatory issues, in
the past, we did not particularly try to influence regulations for
non-wireless.
Of course, regulatory decisions are more critical for wireless which must
be acknowledged by the regulations to get space. The main regulations that
have affected wired connects have been meeting EMI specs and our focus was
on verifying that our signalling and media could comply with the existing
regulations.
More recently, 802.3 does have an interest in revisions being suggested for
eye-safety regulations which could ease constraints on our 10 Gbit/s optical
work. The situation is a little simpler since, only 802.3 has open 802 work
items in this area and the subject matter is less subject to conflicting
views.

Colleagues,
I would like to hold a meeting about regulations in the wireless area on
Tuesday morning, 8:30-10:00.
ID would be 802 WREG.
All voters from 802.11, 802.15 and 802.16 would have voting rights and
should get credit into their favorite WG.
Tentative Agenda:
1. Rules change for Position papers
2. Memorandum of Understanding IEEE SA -- ITU-R
3. Attention items for each of the WGs
4. Web site review
5. Ad-hoc meeting schedule for specific items
Approval of items prepared should be done in each of the relevant WGs.
Would this fit into your agenda?
Do you agree with such a meeting?
Could you post it in your agenda?
Any proposal for procedures?
Looking forward to hear from you
