Re: [802SEC] ANSI approval question 802.16++++
Hello Roger:
Please see Dave's response below. Also, please go to our web site:
http://standards.ieee.org/db/status/index.shtml and enter the project
number. It will tell you if it has been approved by ANSI or not.
Have a good day!

Angela,
Section 4 (near the end) of the RevCom Working Guide,
http://standards.ieee.org/guides/revguide.html, indicates that standards
approved by the Standards Board will be submitted to ANSI.
Usually within 2-3 weeks of Stds Bd approval, ANSI is asked to open a
public review period on the new IEEE standards. This can take a little
while, as ANSI has specific publishing schedules, wherein they provide
notice of the opening of a public review period. The public review period
lasts 60 days. At the end of that time, we send in documents (similar to
what RevCom reviews) for a formal ANSI approval consideration. ANSI's
Board of Standards Review will then determine whether or not to approve the
document as an American National Standard. We are notified when ANSI has
made a decision.

Angela,
I have noticed that the copies of IEEE Std 802.16 and 802.16.2 on the
IEEE Xplore web site say, on the title page:
Recognized as an
American National Standard (ANSI)
The copy of 802.16.2 also says:
Approved 1 November 2001
American National Standards Institute
This is news to me. I never knew these standards were approved by
ANSI, or even submitted to ANSI for approval.
I'd like to let the 802.16 participants know that these documents are
ANSI approved. Can you help me find some documentation of this? I've
checked the ANSI web site, but I can't find anything.
Also: in the future, could I be informed when ANSI approves the standard?
Thanks,
Roger
