There were no new comments submitted on the recirculation, and there is one
outstanding Disapprove vote from the initial ballot. The outstanding
Disapprove voter made one comment on the initial ballot, which was rebutted
and recirculated, as follows:
Date: 30-Nov-2009 19:27:10 EST
Must be satisfied: Yes
Category: Technical
Page: 58
Sub-clause: 30.1
Line #: 52
Comment:
The proposed system does not meet the requirement of low complexity. The
proposed system seems more appropriate for enterprise class systems and not
homes and SMB environments that are more likely to experience congestion.
Proposed Change:
Provide a congestion solution for homes and SMB environments.
Resolution Status:
Principle Resolution Detail: Accept in principle. This standard has been
prepared by the Data Center Bridging Task Group, not the Audio Video
Bridging Task Group, with data center applications in mind. A data center
may be thought of as an example of an "enterprise class system." The Task
Group and Working Group are confident that this standard is as complex as
necessary to meet its goals in this environment, and not more so. Other
standards, specifically P802.1Qat and P8902.1Qav, address congestion issues
in the home and small business environment.
Add a sentence following the first sentence of the paragraph added to Clause
1: "Such flows are typically encountered in data centers, backplane fabrics,
computing clusters, and storage networks."
As there are no further comments to address, there will be no further
recirculations. I therefore ask for your approval to pre-submit this
project to RevCom to meet the 12th Feb submittal deadline. I will bring a
motion to the EC in March to approve submission to RevCom; should that
motion fail, the project will be withdrawn from the RevCom agenda.
Regards,
Tony
