Thanks Michael,
That would be acceptable.
Regards Apurva From: Michael Lynch [mailto:MJLynch@mjlallc.com]
Hi Apurva, Since none of the other tables in our contribution have “commercial names” at the top of them I think that it would be more appropriate to add the term “Wi-FAR™” in Paragraph
7 on page 13 so that it will say “e.g. IEEE 802.22-2011™, also known as Wi-FAR™,”. That would provide the same level of naming as the other 802 technologies have in the document. In re-reading the contribution Paragraph 7 seems to be the only text (meaning non-table related) area of our contribution that mentions 802.22. Paragraph 7 appears to be the first
case of using 802.22 in a text format. Please advise if I missed another earlier use of “802.22” in a text format. As James and others have discussed in other emails we (802) must first internally agree on the “mile” designation and then we can submit our view to ITU-R. We can start with WP1A
but there is also an ITU-R group that deals expressly with vocabulary. Presuming that we can agree amongst ourselves on the mile issue it will take some time to change the ITU-R’s, and other elements of the ITU, use of the terms such as “First Mile” by the
ITU in general. Best regards, Mike +1.972.814.4901 From: Mody, Apurva (US SSA) [mailto:apurva.mody@baesystems.com]
Michael,
A few comments on this Document before I approve. 1. We are branding IEEE 802.22 with the term Wi-FAR. So can you please add
IEEE 802.22 (Wi-FAR™) next to the various instances of IEEE 802.22 in the document.
- For example - Title of Table 4 on Page 11 - Paragraph 7 on Page 13.

On Behalf Of Michael Lynch Dear EC, During the May wireless interim meeting in Waikoloa 802.18 completed work on three documents, all of which will require a 10 day EC email ballot. The
first two of the documents need to be balloted immediately while the third can be done after the first two. This email was sent to Paul to ask permission to begin the 10 day EC email ballot on the second document, “18-13-0067-03 - Draft 802 Comments on Question
ITU-R 236/1. The document was approved in IEEE 802.18 by a vote of 7/0/1. Today Paul approved my conducting the EC ballot. Please note that the document as approved by 802.18 was numbered 18-13-0067-01. However the chair made some necessary edits and formatting changes so
the document now is 18-13-0067-03. The approval motion allows the chair to make necessary editorial and formatting changes. Also please note when you review this contribution that we only edited Attachment 1 to Annex 3 of the WP1A Chairman’s Report. I have asked Paul to allow me to conduct a ten day EC email ballot to approve submitting IEEE 802’s latest comments (Doc. 18-13-0067-03) to ITU-R WP1A. Paul’s response to my request is: “I will authorize a 10 day EC email ballot, to be conducted by Mike Lynch, for the following motion.” Motion: “To approve, under OM Subclause 8.2, document 18-13-0067-03 subject to the early close provision of OM Subclause 4.1.2.." Moved: Mike Lynch Seconded: James Gilb Link to the document: Comments must be submitted to the ITU-R by 16:00 UTC May 28, 2013. The ballot will start May 18th and end on March 28th, 2013. Once approved this document will be filed with the ITU-R by the IEEE SA ITU-R Liaison. Regards, Mike +1.972.814.4901 ---------- This email is sent from the 802 Executive Committee email reflector.
