Dear EC, On Thursday, January 24th, IEEE 802.18 reviewed and approved a document from IEEE 802.15 responding the U.K. Ofcom consultation titled “Licence Exempt Short Range Devices
in the 870 to 876 MHz and 915 to 921 MHz Bands: Technical Proposals”. The response document, 18-14-0001-04-0000-response-to-ofcom-consultation.docx, can be found on the RR-TAG Mentor web site. The document was approved in 802.18 by a vote of 6 yes, 0 no and
0 abstentions and will, with any necessary edits and formatting changes made by the IEEE 802.18 chair, be forwarded by Paul to be filed on the U.K. Ofcom ’s web site. The purpose of this letter document is to support the Ofcom ‘s decision regarding license exempt devices in the 870 – 876 and 915 – 921 MHz frequency bands. It also provides
a view of the benefits that may result from the identification of this spectrum for license exempt use. It also encourages Ofcom to continue this process as has been done in other frequency bands cited in the response. Paul has given me permission to conduct an EC ten day email ballot to approve his submitting this response to the U.K. Ofcom. Motion: “To approve, under OM Subclause 8.2, document 18-14-0001-04 subject to the early close provision of OM Subclause 4.1.2.." Moved: Michael Lynch Seconded: Bob Heile Link to the document:
