Steve, My apologies for not responding earlier than this. As I did not respond with input previously, I will keep my comments limited. In general, I wish the tone of the press release leveraged the tone of the Lessons Learned, which is 802 has a wealth of experience with wireless networks we would like to share with you. That “we want to help with our experience” tone is missing IMO from this press release. If I were a developer of a non-IEEE wireless standard, I might feel a little put off by this tone. I would suggest adding in some sort of statement of the standards prior to the second paragraph, and perhaps some sort of “leveraging experience” tone into it. If you can work in some of the industry terms such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth as well, you may get more notice. Second comment is related to this statement – The IEEE 802.18 CUB Study Group is seeking interested participants for the development of standards. First, I believe you are looking for individuals developing wireless standards, not just standards in general, right? Next – for what purpose? I don’t see anything in here that states or provides insight into what may be standardized. I vote “no” at this point, but am willing to change if you can address these concerns.
