Re: [802SEC] IEEE 802.18 Conference Call - April 8, 2015, 10:00 - 12:00 Noon Central Time

Steve:

In case you forget, the EC revolted when you suggested that in the Friday EC meeting. I will file a serious complaint if any additional changes are made to the document. It was approved by 802.11 and 802.18. No further changes are in order. As it is, we will be sending the FCC a expurgated version of what they already have. Removing anything else would be seen as a further departure from transparency.

Mike,

May I suggest making an R2 from the R1 version and removing Appendix D, which is not references in the main report.  If we have that available before the call then I think there will be support for it in 802.18.

Thanks,

Steve

Rich and Steve,

Let's see if we can get all of this into a single document on the call. Then the motion to the EC will be somple and clear.

Best regards,

Mike

Rich,

The motion I attempted to make at the EC, before the original motion was pulled, was to remove Appendix D from the report since it was only referenced from Section 11 which was removed by 802.18 and was also never reviewed by the Tiger Team.  In addition, that  Appendix takes a position different from that of the IEEE members, as we saw in the straw polls run in the 802.11 Regulatory Standing committee.  Removing this Appendix was missed during the 802.18 meeting due to lack of time.

Regards,

Steve

Mike:

As I explained in the EC meeting, I was told that Steve Shellhammer was going to ask to have the two orphaned references removed, so I prepare a version r1 just to have ready in case he did. I know it was not approved in 802.18, but the initial EC motion should have been the r0, with the r1 waiting for Shellhammer’s request. I did not even suggest you motion r1 because r1 was not the version approved in 802.18.

Rich,

Yes I  did plan to send this to the .18 reflector.

I don't recall agreement in .18 on the r1 version of the DSRC report. And the .19 chair has some proposed changes that should be addressed.

What I want to present to the EC is a single document that has been reviewed by and voted on in .18.

A document that the EC can do a straight up or down vote on - no debates about further edits.

BR,

Mike

Mike:

We completed the action in 802.18. The modified document was approved 8/1/1. There is no additional action required in your group.

I have provided the EC with a written version of the explanation of this issue that should have proceeded the EC motion. I don’t know what you want 802.18 to do.

Did you intend to send this to the 802.18 reflector?

Subject: [802SEC] IEEE 802.18 Conference Call - April 8, 2015, 10:00 - 12:00 Noon Central Time

Dear all,

As you are may be aware during the Berlin Plenary meeting we were unable to move the DSRC report forward for EC approval. The purpose of this conference call will be to determine what should be forwarded to the EC for their consideration. At the time of the closing EC meeting it wasn’t clear what 802.18 would ask the EC to review and vote on. On 3/13/15 there was a further revision proposed which 802.18 never had the opportunity to review. Additionally since the end of the Berlin meeting there has been a further proposal for modification of the Tiger Team’s DSRC report.

The purpose of this conference call is to complete the review in 802.18. The intended result of that review is a vote to approve a motion to the EC on the results of the Tiger Team’s DSRC report. The EC can then determine, by email ballot, whether to forward the Tiger Team’s DSRC report to the FCC.

The call is planned for 10:00 a.m. Central time on 4/8/15. Bridge details will be published during the week prior to the conference call.

Best regards,

Mike
