Re: [802SEC] Proposed Rules Suspension - Nov 2021

Odd – since I agree with both John and Jon, I now realize a bit of confusion, so I’ll clear up my position.

If we go with an electronic meeting – this is sufficient, and necessary.

If we go with a hybrid meeting – this may be sufficient, and it is necessary.  Our consideration indicated we have time to look for what other rules might need suspending.

If we go with a face-to-face meeting – this isn’t necessary – but that seems unlikely.

Hope that clears up where I stand.

Guys-

I don’t agree.

I would recommend this plan for Nov only, regardless of the Sept 7 EC decision regarding the F2F meeting, as it gives as a firm schedule that could accommodate a slip back to a virtual meeting for the Nov Plenary if things go further south between Sept and Nov, and we have to make this change.

Please note this would affect the 802 EC opening date and par comments due date only – the closing date accommodates either a virtual or F2F meeting.

As this would be our first meeting back – I would recommend the conservative approach.

John

Jon – I agree.  One thing John, James, & I discussed was that if we have a mixed mode meeting the rules committee would have time to look at what other rules might need suspension.  A quick look suggested there was plenty of time for that to happen, but that these rules would need to be suspended anyways.

If, in the unlikely event we chose to hold a conventional in-person meeting, we would not need these suspensions.

If the 2021 November Plenary becomes an Electronic Plenary, I would support your proposal.
