[802SEC] IEEE 802 LMSC Status Update - 06 January 2022 -- Registration has re-opened

Dear IEEE 802 LMSC Participants
As previously announced, the next IEEE 802 LMSC Plenary Session will be held between 4-18 March 2022 exclusively electronically. The decision to cancel the venue triggered a contractual cancellation penalty clause that resulted in a significant penalty fee.  The penalty was substantially reduced through exhaustive negotiations with the venue but remains large enough to require adjustment of the March Plenary Session 2022 registration fee structure.

At the 04 January 2022 802 EC teleconference the Executive Committee reset the registration fee structure. The new registration fee for the March 2022 802 plenary will be as follows, and registration be reopened on January 6th:

• $400 until Friday, January 28, 2022 (fully refundable until January 28th)

• $600 until Friday, February 25, 2022 (refundable with cancellation fee, January 28th to February 25th)

• $800 after Friday, February 25, 2022 (non-refundable after February 25th).

Registration will be reopened on 06 January 2022, based on the adjusted fee structure.  Attendance at any meeting held during the plenary session requires registering and paying the appropriate fee.  Details on how to register can be found at http://802world.org/plenary/.  

Those individuals who had previously registered will be contacted directly by the IEEE 802 EC Executive Secretary for further instructions.

Meetings (registration fee required) to be held at the March 2022 Plenary:

• 04 Mar 2022: 802 EC Opening Mtg 20:00 to 22:00 UTC (3-5pm ET) Friday

•  04 Mar 2022 – 18 Mar 2022: WG and TAG meetings as part of the 802 plenary session, details to be provided by the respective group chairs

• 18 Mar 2022: 802 EC Closing Mtg (Consider PARs / ICAIDs) 18:00-22:00 UTC (2-6pm ET) Friday

Some important deadlines related to the plenary include:

• 14 Jan 2022: Tutorial request deadline

•  02 Feb 2022: draft PAR submission deadline 30 days prior to 04 Mar 2022 Wednesday

•  09 Mar 2022: Submit comments against draft PARs / ICAIDs Wednesday

• 16 Mar 2022: Post responses to submitted comments against draft PARs / ICAIDs

Please note that there will be several pre-plenary events for which no registration fee is required:

•  01 Mar 2022: (Potential) Tutorial 14:00 to 15:20 UTC (9-10:20 am ET) Tuesday

•  02 Mar 2022: 802 Next Gen Workshop 20:00 to 22:00 UTC (4-6pm ET) Wednesday

•  03 Mar 2022: 802.1 Technical Plenary 14:00 to 16:00 UTC (9-11am ET) Thursday

• 04 Mar 2022: 802 Orientation 15:00 to 16:00 UTC (10-11am ET)

The IEEE 802 Executive Committee appreciates your continued patience and dedication in these uncertain times. For participants’ planning purposes, the 802 EC expects to return to in-person sessions as soon as possible.  Participants should plan that registration fees for the July and November 2022 plenary sessions will be at least the levels of the March 2022 Plenary.
