[802SEC] IEEE Standards Association Fellow Nomination Support Committee (FelCom)

Dear 802 Executive Committee Members,

Please circulate this email regarding the recently established IEEE SA Fellows Committee to your group participants.

As a member of FelCom, one of my duties is to encourage deserving standard participants that are IEEE Senior Members to apply for elevation to the highest grade of membership, IEEE Fellow.  I am sure the 802 community has many participants that are good candidates for elevation as a result of their contributions to 802 LMSC and IEEE technical standards in general.

The IEEE SA Fellow Nomination Support Committee is requesting your assistance in its effort to secure nominations of deserving standards contributors for the IEEE Fellows Class of 2023.

Nominations are due by 01 March 2022.

About the IEEE Fellow Program
The IEEE Fellow grade is conferred by the Board of Directors upon nominees with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. Such accomplishments frequently involve technical contributions associated with standards. Typically, nominees have had achievements in the four major nomination categories as Technical Leaders, Application Engineers/Practitioners, Researchers or Educators.

IEEE SA Fellow Nomination Support Committee (Felcom)
The IEEE SA Fellow Nomination Support Committee (FelCom) has been working to increase the number of new IEEE Fellows who qualify mainly through their contributions to IEEE standards. It has been doing this by raising awareness, reviewing and helping improve nominations, engaging with Societies/Councils and advising volunteer nominators, references and endorsers. It also has the important role of encouraging and supporting prospective Fellow nominees from the IEEE SA community.

Dedicated Resource Portal
To help with this effort, FelCom has made available a "resource portal" at https://sagroups.ieee.org/felcom/. The resource portal includes links to key manuals, guides and other important materials hosted at the main IEEE Fellows site https://www.ieee.org/membership/fellows/index.html.  In the coming weeks and months, we will be enhancing the portal to include guides and other content that more explicitly applies to those whose main contributions are related to standards activities.

We encourage you to let us know of prospective colleagues who are serious about being nominated for
IEEE Fellowship. We would be happy to answer any questions. Thank you for your support.
