Re: [802SEC] Comments on PARs/ICAIDs for July 2022 Plenary

Comments from 802.11 on the PARs/ICAIDs underconsideration are posted to Mentor 11-22/0879r2:

Details:
1) 60802 - Standard - Time-Sensitive Networking Profile for Industrial Automation, PAR, CSD, and PAR Extension
No Comment
2) 802.1Qdv - Amendment: Enhancements to Cyclic Queuing and Forwarding, PAR and CSD

PAR – No comment

CSD 1.2.4  b) Suggest change “bound” with “limits” and delete “, on ether side,” which does not help the sentence clarity.

3) 802.1Qdw - Amendment: Source Flow Control, PAR and CSD

PAR: 5.5 Change - “PFC is used to avoid packet loss from to congestion,..” to “PFC is used to avoid packet loss from congestion,”

PAR 5.2.b last sentence: Please consider replacing “errors of” with “technical corrections to”

4) 802.1CQ - Standard - Multicast and Local Address Assignment, PAR Extension

PAR Extension: no Comment

5) 802.1DC - Standard - Quality of Service Provision by Network Systems, PAR Extension

PAR – Number of years seems to be a bit long at 3 years to fix up references.

The Description may need to expand on explaining why 3 years is needed and remember the audience of the paragraph is not the 802.1 group that understands the underlying reasons.

The Document is already at 70%, so please explain what the scope of the changes are that require 3 years.

Given your RevCom target of July 2023, 1 year would be enough, but you could nominally ask for 2 years to buffer.

6) 802.1Qcz - Amendment: Congestion Isolation, PAR Extension

7) 802.1Qdd - Amendment: Resource Allocation Protocol, PAR Extension

PAR Extension: 2. The text provided does not justify the extension.  It just details the normal process of creating a standard.  Please provide technical justification for the extension.

The Document is already at 70%, so please explain what the scope of the changes are that require 3 years.

8) 802.3 Industry Connections - New Ethernet Applications, Endorsement Letter & ICAID

8.3 Initial Participation – The Instructions indicate that 5 unique individuals with unique employers/affiliations are required.  Only 4 individuals are listed, but less than 4 unique affiliations.

8.4 Suggest removal of the black text after the “if yes” option as it is not needed ( you replied “no”).

9) 802.15.4 - Standard for Low Rate Wireless Networks, Revision PAR

Need to Add to 8.1 the full name of each standard listed in 5.5 Need for project: “IEEE Std 802.15.4w, IEEE Std 802.15.4y, IEEE Std 802.15.4z, IEEE Std 802.15.4aa “

Also in 5.5, you could include the shorthand name in the sentence

“One additional amendment, P802.15.4ab, is currently under development.
